Gameweek 7 Preview & Tips

CAPTAINCY CONTENDERS- In my opinion, there are 4 solid captaincy options this week, with all of them able to obtain a huge haul at the weekend. In the table above, I have listed my top 4 captain options this week.

Let's start from the top:

Luis Suarez- After coming off his arm-munching suspension, Suarez showed once again his goalscoring touch, scoring 2 goals in his season debut for the Reds. Last season, Luis finished second overall in the hunt for the golden boot, only 3 short of Robin Van Persie. At home to Crystal Palace this weekend, Suarez looks like a pretty good bet to be among the goals.

Daniel Sturridge- Leading the line for Liverpool this season, Daniel Sturridge showed no signs of slowing up in his ppg production with Suarez on the pitch, outscoring the Uruguayan 14-13 last gameweek. The reason I rate Sturridge behind Suarez this week in terms of captaincy is that Suarez had more shots vs. Sunderland, and looks hungry to be back playing. However, if you don't own Suarez this week, Sturridge is also a great contender for the armband, as he'll surely link up once again with Luis.

Wayne Rooney- As we all know by now, Rooney is a form player. He is either hot or cold in terms of fantasy points. At the moment, Wazza is hot! Having notched 3 goals in his last 3 games for United in league play, Rooney looks to continue his great form vs. struggling Sunderland. The Black Cats are recently coming off a 3-1 loss to Liverpool, and are really in dire form. I expect Man United to come out with a bang, after coming off back-to-back losses vs. City and West Brom. Rooney is likely to be involved in lots of United attacks, and I expect some attacking returns for him.

Olivier Giroud- The frenchman is in the form of his life, and being supplied by by one of the world's best in Mesut Ozil, I back Giroud vs. WBA. Coming off a mid-week goal vs. Napoli, Giroud looks to carry his goal-scoring touch to the Hawthorns, where WBA will host Arsenal. Despite many thinking this will be a close match, I believe Arsenal's form is just too great to pass up at the moment. Giroud is also a strong contender for the armband if you don't own any of the above players.

CLEAN SHEET POTENTIAL- This week, I fancy 3 teams for a clean sheet; Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace- Palace have now been shutout 4 of their first 6 matches in the Premier League. I expect a 7th blank from the newly promoted team, coming up against a strong Liverpool side. In my opinion, Liverpool will dominate this game and cruise to an easy three points.

Tottenham vs. West Ham- The Hammers have been absolutely awful away from home this season, held scoreless in all 3 of their away appearances. With Hugo Lloris and Tottenham's back line only conceding twice all season (mind you, that was against Arsenal and Chelsea), I expect Spurs to keep Sam Allardyce's men out.

Norwich vs. Chelsea- Norwich are struggling for goals this season, only finding the net twice in their past 5 games. Hosting Chelsea this weekend, it's unlikely that they will penetrate Chelsea's back line and get many opportunities going forward. I expect John Terry and the Blues to pick up maximum points, while also keeping a clean sheet.

FLYING UNDER THE RADAR- These two players that may seem like boring picks, but are turning out to be FPL bargains for their price.

Nathaniel Clyne- Clyne has now picked up 3 clean sheets in his last 3 games, and is definitely being overlooked by most. Priced at only 4.4, Clyne is 0.3 cheaper than any other Southampton defender. With Southampton being one of the league's most solid teams defensively thus far, he is a bargain pickup as a 4th or 5th defender.

Morgan Amalfitano- This guy has been unreal in his first three appearances in the Premier League. Having notched 2 goals and an assist already, Amalfitano  s only priced at 5.0, and only holds an ownership of 1.4%. If you are looking at a differential or replacement for Brady (who is now out for 4 weeks for a hernia operation), Amalfitano could be your man. Monitor him over the next couple of weeks to see if he can keep up his crazy 8 ppg.
